Biokar – Microbiology – Reagents, Supplements and Additives
Biokar Diagnostics is the microbiology division of the Solabia group, dedicated to the development, production and selling of culture media, supplements and detection kits for microbiology laboratories.
Biokar Diagnostics, a division of the Solabia group, develops and produces microbiological reagents, supplements, and additives, including Coagulase Rabbit Plasma, Ringer’s Solution 1/4 strength, Synthetic Sea Salt, and Chloramphenicol Selective Supplement 50 mg, for laboratory use.

Rabbit Plasma recovered over EDTA and freeze-dried is used for the detection of staphylocoagulase.

Ringer’s Solution 1/4 strength is a diluent used to prepare dispersion solutions for the microbiological control of water, milk, dairy and other food products. It is also widely used to prepare serial tenfold dilutions.

The Chloramphenicol Selective Supplement 50 mg, supplied as a lyophilized preparation, inhibits the development of most bacterial contaminants, thereby favoring the isolation of yeasts and molds.
The supplement can substitute for the Oxytetracycline supplement recommended in the routine.
The supplement can also be added to Sabouraud Agar, (BK025), to obtain Sabouraud Chloramphenicol Agar, which also exists in complete dehydrated form (BK007).

The CSD method allows the rapid detection of Cronobacter spp in human food products (especially milk powders and infant ingredients) and products from the production environment.
At the end of an enrichment phase with Salmonella Enrichment + CSD supplement, a subculture is carried out on CCI agar. The characteristic colonies will be confirmed.
The CSD method is certified NF VALIDATION, for the search for Cronobacter spp, according to the validation protocol NF EN ISO 16140-2 of 2016, with respect to the reference method EN ISO 22964: 2017, for the following categories:
- Infant milk powders, with and without probiotics; ingredients for test doses from 0 to 50 g, with a 1/10th dilution.
- Infant milk powders, with and without probiotics for test samples from 50 to 375 g, with a 1/4″ dilution.

Gentamicin 25 mg Selective Supplement is recommended to improve the isolation of yeasts and pathogenic fungi in clinical samples as well as for the enumeration of yeasts and molds in food products, particularly in meats and raw seafood. The selective supplement is composed of the antibiotic gentamicin.

MUG 50 mg Supplement is used in selective media for the detection and enumeration of coliform bacteria in order to simultaneously detect Escherichia coli in samples that may contain it: water, beverages, dairy products and other food products. It can be used in both liquid media (Laurylsulfate-Tryptose Broth) and in solid media (Violet Red Bile Agar, MacConkey agar…).

TTC 50 mg supplement is an indicator of bacterial growth. It is used with Slanetz and Bartley Agar (base) or KF Streptococcus Agar (base) for the enumeration of enterococci in tap water, beverages, sewage and various biological products, using both the membrane filtration technique and the classical technique of enumeration in Petri plates.
